The Heights runs on neighbors who show up. Give an afternoon or take on an ongoing role — there’s a place for you here.
Why It Matters
Every event, every clean-up, every committee in the Heights is run by volunteers. There is no professional staff behind the Houston Heights Association — just neighbors giving their time. Whether you have two hours a year or two days a month, there’s a role that fits your schedule and what you care about.
You can give a single afternoon for one event, lend a hand at a seasonal clean-up, or commit to an ongoing seat on a committee. New to the neighborhood? Volunteering is the fastest way to meet your neighbors and learn how the Heights works.
Tell us a little about yourself and what interests you, and we’ll match you with something that fits.
“Bring your name, your block, and a couple of hours — we’ll handle the rest.”

Levels of Commitment
Help out at a single event — set up chairs, staff a welcome table, or join an esplanade clean-up day. No ongoing commitment, just a few hours when you can spare them.
Offer what you’re good at — photography, social media, graphic design, writing, carpentry, gardening. We can almost always put a skill to work for the neighborhood.
Ready for an ongoing role? Committees plan events, steward the parks, review preservation matters, and shape HHA priorities. This is where lasting change happens.
How It Works
Email volunteer@houstonheights.org and tell us your name, your block, what interests you, and roughly how much time you have.
We’ll reply with a few specific opportunities that fit your schedule and interests — one-time, skill-based, or ongoing.
Pick the one that works, and you’re in. No membership required to volunteer — though many volunteers choose to join, too.
