The Neighborhood
Recognizing outstanding recent architecture, design, and construction in Houston Heights — the new and renovated buildings that keep the Heights “Heights-y.”
About the Awards
Each year the Houston Heights Association recognizes recent construction and renovation — both residential and commercial — that improves upon the historic yet ever-changing look and feel of our community’s landscape.
Nominations come from neighbors through an open process. Entries are then scored by a panel of volunteer judges on built features sympathetic to the character of the neighborhood: scale, massing, proportions, setbacks, landscaping, and architectural detail. Commercial entries are also judged on their visual, environmental, and economic contributions to the community.
Keep an eye out as you drive, walk, jog, and cycle through the neighborhood. If a building has caught your eye as uniquely contributing to the Heights, nominate it.
“Does this building improve the Heights community and landscape?”
