Katherine and Matt’s garden is layered with textures, shape, and hues of green. Originally a sunny yard, over the years the lawn has been transformed into a shady woodland garden by the steady growth of a fringe tree and an oak. 

As you step through the gate, a sidewalk bisecting the yard and a winding path invite you to slow down and look at a wave of perennials—violets, caladiums, and varieties of ferns as well as an ornamental maple, framed by the two large trees. The fringe tree, a showstopper in late March and April with its white canopy, provides filtered, dappled light in May.
