Join your neighbors on Monday, October 12 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the historic Houston Heights Fire Station, 107 W. 12th Street, for the October General Meeting. This month you’ll hear from the candidates running for the HHA Board of Directors. Each will share why they’re running and what they hope to bring to the Heights. It’s the best chance to put names to faces before you vote, so come with questions and get to know the people who want to help shape the neighborhood’s future.
We’ll also welcome CarePartners, a Houston nonprofit that has served older adults and caregivers since 1986. Their vision is “Creating Compassionate Communities of Care.” Through caregiver education, one-on-one consultations, support groups, and activity programs, they help older adults, including people living with dementia, and the family members who care for them. They also run the Dementia Day Center, Houston’s only adult day program for people in the early to late-moderate stages of dementia. Whether you’re caring for a parent, a spouse, or a neighbor, or just want to know what help is out there, this presentation is worth hearing. General meetings are open to everyone, so bring a friend.
