1340 Omar – Home of Bob & Diane Weigle
Bob and Diane Weigle built this homage to New Orleans in 2000, a place they love. The current owners, Beth and David Speck, share their love of NOLA: they were even on the way to New Orleans when they first visited the home and put a contract down on the spot in 2015. When choosing plants for the garden, Beth walked the neighborhood to get a sense of what plants were iconic to the Heights area, what attracted wildlife, and what bloomed each season. The highlights of the front garden include two lovely tulip magnolia trees in honor of the couple’s mothers, Frances Lowry and Norma Speck, both of whom were incredible gardeners. Passion vine and leopard plants are accented by seasonal heirloom flowers that attract bees and butterflies. Each season, the garden transforms to highlight plants that thrive and provide beauty and joy for all.
