Congratulations to our May Yard of the Month: “Herman’s Park” at Studewood & 13th

Kevin Munsterman knew he had big shoes to fill when he moved from the Show-Me-State and into his tiny home, formerly Herman’s Boot & Shoe Repair, only two years ago. Situated on a 1250 square foot lot, the 620 square foot home and yard were a blank canvas for his artistic mind. The yard consisted of a young crape myrtle tree, grass, and gravel. Being both a chronic planter and painter, he naturally began buying plants and painting. He wanted to use the plants for sound deadening from the busy street, and no longer wanted to have grass to mow. Kevin decided to name the property, “Herman’s Park”, and hand-painted the utility box out front, and the home, inside and out. Weekly, he would buy plants with no vision for the outcome, simply trying to cover every inch with foliage and unique curb-find decorations.

We would like to thank Joshua’s Native Plants for this months gift certificate for Yard of the Month!
