Congratulations to our June Yard of the Month: Andrew & Stephanie Lienhard at 802 Ralfallen

The community garden at 802 Ralfallen Street was started in 2009 from a simple need to relocate some soil from the backyard. As the years passed, the gardens were expanded to serve as an herb and vegetable garden for many of the residents on surrounding streets. Last year, Andrew and Stephanie Lienhard added a pollinator garden and two more raised community garden beds to the front easement of Ralfallen. The gardens have always functioned as a wonderful meeting point for all of the neighbors and as an impromptu biology lesson for many of the children who check daily for Monarch caterpillars, butterflies and Chrysalis hiding among the flowers.

Inside the front gate you will find a shade garden filled with rocky pathways lined with pentas, begonias, foxtail ferns and impatiens. There is also a succulent and cactus garden outside the fence facing Beverly Street.

The Lienhards have lived on Ralfallen since 2006 and consider their gardens an ever-evolving project. They love sharing their garden and see the project as a way to build a strong community.

We would like to thank Joshua’s Native Plants for the very nice gift certificate awarded to our June yard of the month recipients. Joshua’s is located here in the Heights at 502 West 18th St.
