Historic District FAQ
1. Does the HHA have an architectural review process for modifications or new construction for properties within in the Heights Historic District(s)?
ANSWER: No. Submit plans to the City of Houston per typical plan submittal processes. The City of Houston enforces the guidelines.
2. Does the HHA have a support process, for changes or new construction to a property within a Historic District, before submitting to the City of Houston?
ANSWER: Yes. The HHA Land Use Committee traditionally meets the 1st Monday of every month to review ongoing developments and can provide comments to property owners on proposed changes based upon experience and knowledge of the Historic District Guidelines, and history of our community.
3. Are the Heights Historic District guidelines applicable to each area of the Heights Historic Districts?
ANSWER: Yes for each of the “Heights Historic District” areas. Freeland Historic District has its own. See weblinks in this FAQ.
