I am Idalia Guerra and I am honored to serve as president of the Houston Heights Association for 2023.

For those who do not know me, my husband and I have been a part of this community for 9 years. I am a mother of two girls and a working professional engineer who loves to serve this community.

For the past two years, I have had the privilege to sit at the table and learn from a diverse group of directors. Together we found creative ways to continue to serve our community while overcoming the challenges of the pandemic and finding safe ways for us to come together for in person events. This year our board consists of returning and new directors who are eager and motivated to foster the HHA mission vision of making our community be,” A diverse small-town community in the heart of Houston where neighbors and business thrive, children learn and play, and history lives.”

As a non-profit organization that is volunteered based, it is no secret this organization would not be where it is today if it was not for the generosity and help of this community. We are grateful and would like to continue to serve you in various ways: bringing new and exciting events to the Heights, improve and make changes to Donovan Park, and continue to preserve and restore the Heights Fire Station.

As our neighborhood continues to evolve, we will continue to find ways to grow with it while still maintaining our friendly culture and historic charm. We plan to find a more efficient way to communicate and make you aware of our community events and the changes that are occurring in the neighborhood. We will continue to serve as a platform of communication between the Heights and the City. We will continue to do our best to highlight our neighborhood as a great place to live and do business.

Someone once said, motivation comes from working on things we care about. It also come from working with people we care about. As for the board and myself, we all still care deeply about our Houston Heights community and we are ready and motivated to serve you. I would like to invite you to join us at our next event or general meeting. No matter how big or how small your involvement and presence makes our Greater Heights Community better. Cheers to 2023!
