We of course have a big city election coming up, but did you know there’s an even more hyperlocal election going on this month and next? Over the next six weeks, you and the rest of the HHA membership will pick the six new Directors for the 2020 HHA Board! Read all about when and how you can vote here, and be sure to attend the Community Meeting on Monday, October 14 to hear from the candidates themselves.

For now, get to know who’s in the running by reviewing our Board Candidate Statements:

Oni Blair

“After living as a “Tex-pat” in other U.S. and international cities, I returned in 2016 to settle in the Heights. My family and I love our neighborhood — the walkable/bikeable streets, parks, and restaurants and people. I’m excited to leverage my public and non-profit experiences to advance our community’s goals.”

Kevin Chenevert

“I have lived in the Heights for the last 16 years. I joined the board 3 years ago and have spent the last year serving as president. The reason I joined the board was to make the Heights a better neighborhood and being president has given me the opportunity to do just that.”

Cathy Coon

“Nick and I proudly call the Heights home for the past 15 years. I support Heights Home Tour, Houston Marathon, Habitat and Foodbank. My 38 years corporate experience provides strong foundation to tackle and solve problems.  Recently retired from Chevron, I have time and energy to focus on community concerns.”

David Crowl

“My wife and I moved to the Heights in 2013. We feel it is a great place to raise our family. As Business Membership Chair I’ve enjoyed helping local businesses thrive. It’s my goal to ensure our community is to be the best place to live, work and play.”

Joy Stapp

“I moved to the Heights in 1986 and have been active in HHA, volunteering and serving on committees, the Board, and as Treasurer.  I’ve seen many changes, but constant is the love we have for our “small town.” Let’s keep that while we grow into the future.”

Jason Starr

“Tera and I moved to the Heights in 2014.  As parents we have great appreciation for all the Heights has to offer, largely made possible by HHA volunteers.  Having served as Community Improvement Chair the last 2 years, I humbly request your support to serve you in a greater capacity.”

Mark Williamson

“Since 1991, I’ve served HHA as President, Director, Editor, Land Use Chair, Super Neighborhood Delegate, various positions on home tours, and general volunteer. I would be proud to serve again as the Board faces the continuing challenges of keeping our “small town in the big city” vital, neighborly, and historic.”
