Spring has arrived in the Heights so it’s time to meet your local green thumb experts! Join the HHA Urban Forestry and Heights Garden Club for an evening focused on your Heights gardens, trees & lawns. Find out what these two committees have in store for 2020 and also get some great tips about how to care for your own greenery. Here’s a little of what’s on tap for the meeting:

Jonathan Smulian & Jack Lucas will share info on the Urban Forestry’s “Branching out in the Heights” initiative, which is helping grow the number of beautiful trees in our neighborhood by way of the Adopt-A-Block/Plant ROW Trees in the Heights program. They’ll present a species guide outlining the history of our Heights Urban Canopy and explain which trees are best to plant for today.

Special guest Betty Heacker, owner of Wabash Feed Houston, will reveal her secrets for the healthiest choices for a beautiful Heights Lawn {special thanks to the Heights Garden Club for inviting Becky}.

Residential arborist Chris Ochoa will present healthy tips for nurturing trees in your own yard, including a calendar for care, signs of health and distress, and care & feeding habits of your home’s best asset.

Marissa Llosa, Conservation Manager for Houston Parks Board, will be highlighting the organization’s conservation efforts and how YOU can get involved! Houston Parks Board is a nonprofit organization that creates, improves, protects and advocates for parks for everyone.

Everyone is invited to this fun meeting which will have adult & kid-friendly refreshments and green thumb giveaways!
