Join us virtually as some Heights area history buffs give you the tips, tricks & tools to research your historic neighborhood.

  • Randy Pace: Genealogy to learn more about the story of historic homes
    • Randy Pace has been a resident of the Houston Heights since 1985, when he became Board Member of the HHA and Chair of the Historical Committee where he facilitated 40 National Register designations and the installation of a historic marker on Lombard Lamp. In 1991 he researched, authored and dedicated the Houston Heights historical marker installed at the Heights Library and researched and published a centennial history of the Houston Heights. He has restored numerous historic homes and commercial buildings. He has worked for Galveston Historical Foundation and chaired the Historic Review Board in Galveston for 5 years and then served as Historical Preservation Officer of City of Houston for 17 years, retiring in 2011 to pursue traveling and genealogical research while serving as Board Member of Clayton Library Friends since 2012 and Pace Society of America since 2013. He is the recipient of numerous preservation awards as well!
  • Jim Parsons of Preservation Houston: Curious about the history of your house and neighborhood? More virtual resources are available than ever before, helping you uncover stories of the places you care about and the people who built them. Preservation Houston Programs Director Jim Parsons will give an overview of some of these resources so you can start digging into history online.
  • City of Houston Historic Preservation: Historic Preservation Officer Roman McAllen will share tools to preserve history in your neighborhood, and stories about favorite places in our neighborhood using history to create one-of-a-kind experiences of homes & commercial places.
