Our first General Meeting of the Fall will feature both fun, farm-focused presentations and the important business of hearing from our 2022 Board of Directors Election Candidates.

Anchoring our program is the Houston Farmers Market (AKA Arline Farmers Market), which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this month with events, activations, art pop-ups, and more. Founded in 1942 and recently reimagined for the 21st century by LMB, the market is a big part of Houston history.

Houston Farmer’s Market will be followed by Blackwood Educational Land Institute, who will share progress and happenings at the Skyfarm at POST Houston, one of the largest rooftop farms in the world. The one-acre organic farm sits atop the former Barbara Jordan Post Office in Downtown Houston.

As always, our community meeting takes place on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 PM. Houston Farmers Market will provide fantastic door prizes like gift certificates and fruit baskets along with offering items for sale from market vendors RC Ranch and Henderson & Kane.

Finally, hear from the six Candidates who are running for three-year terms on the Houston Heights Association Board of Directors.

The fun will continue throughout this season of General Meetings with November 14th’s “Heights Business Member Showcase” and December 12th’s “Annual HHA Holiday Celebration” themes.

If you are a Business Member interested in joining the November showcase, email business@houstonheights.org.

Meanwhile, we will all look forward to the holiday joy of December’s neighborhood holiday party, which will include the Precinct 1 Constable’s Annual Toy Drive, live music, the HHA Imagination Station, gingerbread decorating, and sweets and treats.
