Congratulations to our August Yard of the Month: David King at 2023 Cortlandt

After moving in three years ago, David King worked with Laird Landscaping to create a garden that would provide a level of privacy and comfort in both the front and back gardens as well as create something that would be visually pleasing for his neighbors. The front fence covered with Star Jasmine provides a private space for the interior yard and he keeps a great deal of seasonal color year-round to make it a bright space.

A Sylvester Palm, Crepemytle, and a Bottlebrush tree serve as anchor plantings. The use of citrus trees, Coral drift roses, Agapanthus, dwarf ruellia, and colorful annuals on both sides of the front walk make for a nice view for walkers. In the back garden, Florida Sabal palms, elephant ears, a grapefruit and banana tree, as well as many colorful potted annuals and herbs, create a tropical feel that accents the pool. In addition, the bamboo curtain across the back fence makes the garden very private.

David has enjoyed seeing the garden mature and look forward to seeing it develop over the coming years!

We would like to thank Buchanan’s Native Plants for the gift certificate presented to our August Yard of the Month recipients.
