Congratulations to our April Yard of the Month: The Harbert’s at 717 E. 23rd
When Ryan and Amy Harbert set out to renovate their garden five years ago they wanted a destination that would be a stopping point pollinators, winged friends, crawlers, nearby neighbors, as well as themselves. Their yard is a certified Texas Wildscape, which encourages urban wildlife such as frog, lizards, herons, ladybugs, hummingbirds, and an occasional opossum. Their garden plants are ones traded with neighbors, taken from ditches, grown from seed, and taken from yards before they were bulldozed to build new, among many other sources. Their ditch functions as a water garden with native grasses and seasonal wildflowers. As you might have guessed, Amy and Ryan are landscape architects…as well as avid porch sitters, artists, and naturalists. Drive by and check out this amazing yard!
We would like to thank Zone 9 for this months gift certificate for Yard of the Month!
