Congratulations to our April Yard of the Month: David Morello at 608 Peddie

David Morello bought the house at 608 Peddie in 1998 and immediately began planning the garden. The canvas was blank except for a decade’s old pittosporum specimen which he immediately limbed up to form a tree. Soon after settling in, David started planting trees and today there are 24 specimen of trees in the garden (counting limbed up shrubs). These provide green views from every interior window. He still remembers the day the protective paper was removed from the French doors, and the garden was visible from the inside for the first time, exactly as planned.

The garden was built on a central axis, making it the focal point for all the main living areas.  The front garden is a colorful display of beautiful flowers and shrubs without a blade of grass in sight. Boxwood, dwarf yaupon, and ivy define the different planting areas that contain beds of annuals and perennials that change throughout the seasons. A vine-covered arbor welcomes visitors to the house.

The garden is a work in progress, that will never be finished because it’s therapy. You can follow David on Instagram @davidfmorello, where he often attaches the hashtag #horticulturaltherapy to his posts. As a professional landscaper, he loves to share his yard and you can see more of his work here: https://www.facebook.com/DavidMorelloGardenEnterprises/
