The TRUE NORTH sculpture project will soon make its 2021 debut. The team has been working for months to secure works that will fill us all with wonder, hope and pure delight. Going into its eighth annual installation and officially opening on March 15 for nine months, TRUE NORTH is proud to announce these distinguished Texas artists selected for the exhibition:

TRUE NORTH is a temporary public art installation organized by an all-volunteer team, along with the Houston Heights Association—its nonprofit sponsor and long-time custodian of Heights Boulevard’s esplanade—that works in cooperation with the City of Houston Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments, the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Houston Arts Alliance to install sculptures on eight designated sites alongside the esplanade’s walking/jogging/nature trails. Curators choose a range of works by Texas artists based on medium, theme, color and visibility.

“TRUE NORTH 2021 will celebrate a welcomed new year,” says co-curator Chris Silkwood. “These eight unique works by gifted Texas artists may be seen from afar, but you’ll also want to experience them along the winding, forested trails of the esplanade to truly appreciate the complexity, design, media and the luminous imagination of the artists.”
