2021 Houston Heights Fun Run

Sign Up Now!

Get out, enjoy our wonderful neighborhood, and support the Houston Heights Association via our first EVER hybrid event! Since we all need to remain mindful of social distancing and keeping our community safe, the annual Fun Run will be a hybrid event with an in-person AND virtual option!

  • The IN-PERSON option will be mindfully spaced out with multiple starting waves and limited people per wave. This will be done ON race day (September 18) on Heights Boulevard with the option of a 10K run, 5K run or walk, or a Kids 1K.
  • The VIRTUAL option can be done from time of registration up until race day (September 18) on any Heights trail that you choose! Virtual runners can simply track their own 10K or 5K race at their leisure and turn in their results to event organizers. All participants, in-person and virtual, will be recognized.

Wave Information:

Start times of each event are subject to change based upon how many people register for the event since we are limiting the number of people per wave start. Start times will be communicated as early as possible and will only be moved later than posted (not earlier).

You will be assigned your wave AFTER registration closes via email with an estimated Start Time. Go to the start line approximately 5 minutes before your Starting Time and an AIR HORN will sound at the start of every wave. Please do not crowd starting line until it is time for your Wave to start.

Feel free to fill the streets and side streets BEHIND 18th Street — we have the roads closed to 20th Street – so that is TWO BLOCKS to spread out.

There will be PRE-RACE Stretching for every wave offered by QUAR Fitness at the Start Line!

Course:

NOT SHOWN – the Porta Johns that will be on Heights Boulevard North Bound near 19th Street (far behind the race finish).

The course will go as follows:

10K – Start behind 18th, Turn at 5th, Turn at 18th, Turn at 5th, To Finish

5K – Start behind 18th, Turn at 5th, To Finish

1K – Start behind 18th, Turn at 15th, To Finish

Timing:

Your timing will not start until you cross the Start Line. So, whatever you do – DO NOT cross over the timing pad at the Start Line until your wave begins. Timing will end once you cross the Finish Line. There are only (2) timed events: 5K Run & 10K Run

Awards & After-Party:

Post-race, we will have a mindfully spaced After-Party at Marmion Park with local community vendors/sponsors! Awards will be handed out at the After-Party, starting at 10 AM.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male & top 3 female finishers in each age group (under 30, 30-39, 40-49, and 50+) for the 10K Run & 5K Run. There will also be OVERALL Winners Awards for the top 3 male/female finishers in both the 10K Run & 5K Run. In addition, ALL Kids 1K finishers will receive a medal!

Those who can’t attend the award ceremony can pick up up their award at the Historic Houston Fire Station (107 W 12th St, Houston, TX 77008) at a later date (to be released).
